19th Century Chinoiserie Lacquer Pedestal Table
19th Century Chinoiserie Lacquer Pedestal Table
This is an exquisite Chinese export tilt-top table with a quatrefoil base and four claw feet. The pedestal is in a baluster shape and the top is round. All in black lacquer with extremely fine gold chinoiserie designs throughout, depicting figures standing within a palace compound, surrounded by distant hills, trees and flowers.
The top of the table slides on and off the base very easily. A little wobbly when sitting on the base, which can be easily remedied by inserting some padding to the top of the pedestal. (Not visible.) Some surface cracks, bubbling and very minor losses to the lacquer, please see photographs.
This table was the property of a prominent Canadian collector.
