9th Century French Kidney Shaped Marquetry Desk

Late Nineteenth century kidney shaped desk in the stule of Louis XVI. Exquisite marquetry on the front drawers and throughout, with book matched satinwood veneers on the back. Gilt bronze galleried top and banding. Tapered legs ending in bronze feet. Leather writing surface with gold tooling. Dovetailed drawers in excellent condition.
This is a truly elegant piece in a lovely kidney shape.
Leather top has some cracks and losses and could benefit from professional restoration. The rest of the desk is in near perfect condition. Previous alteration to the legs on this desk which were elongated. This was extremely well done with matching veneers and is not noticeable except under close inspection. Structurally the desk is in fine condition.
Height of opening under central drawer is 23.5". Overall height is 30", depth 22" and width 45.75".
