Antique Italian Walnut Pedestal Table With Carved Putti, 19th Century

A fabulous, 19th-century Italian carved walnut pedestal table featuring a tripod base and a putti figure holding grapes. Hand carved walnut with a lovely, warm patina. This wonderful putti wears a turban headdress and a waistcoat jacket whose tails magically transform into legs, each one wrapping sinuously around the base. His right hand may have held a candle or lamp at one time. The table top is beautifully carved with a circular floral motif. In wonderful condition with one small chip to one section of the base.
This table looks wonderful from any angle but especially from the side, where the shape of the putti's protruding belly creates a beautiful curve. 
An utterly charming and whimsical piece!
