Classical carved Oak Wall Panel, Bas-relief, facade of a church
Classical carved Oak Wall Panel, Bas-relief, facade of a church
A decorative, classical carved oak panel with very intricate detail, depicting the facade of a church: a panelled doorway with fanciful columns on either side, surmounted by carved angels, scrolls and elaborate pediments. The bottom of the panel depicts a wonderful cobblestoned pavement in perspective.
The bottom right is signed Enio D. H.
We do not know too much about the origin of this panel, or its age. It may be Italian. But it is an exceptional bas-relief, and a great decorative piece to add to any interior.
Rear of panel is smooth and bears a sketch of an angel, in pencil, by the sculptor.
H. 55” W. 14” (H. 139.7cm W. 35.56cm)
