A stunning oil portrait in the manner of Allan Ramsay, a Scottish painter who was renowned for his portraits in the 18th century. (1813-1784) This is a beautifully executed painting inspired by Allan's portrait of Katherine Hall of Dunglass, painted in Edinburgh in 1736. Creamy skin tones, a glorious silk dress and an intriguing, intelligent face are the hallmarks of this portrait.
Oil on canvas, laid on board. We believe this painting to be early 19th century but it may be earlier. The painting is in wonderful condition with very fine craquelure in some areas, which do not distract at all from the overall beauty of the piece.
Painting is 28" High by 23" Wide, framed dimensions are 28.5" by 33.75".
