Mid Century Green Patinated Bronze Vase, GAB Guldsmedsaktiebolaget , Stockholm

A fabulous, Swedish, gourd form, green patinated bronze vase,  by GAB Guldsmedsaktiebolaget , from the early to mid twentieth century.

This vase has a lobed body and is impressed with the maker's mark to the base. It has a gorgeous green patina with bronze tones and verdigris highlights. Beautifully made of solid bronze, it has a substantial weight for its size, weighing approximately 3.8 lbs. (1.7kg.)
The shape is sculptural, classic and modern, exemplifying the best of Scandinavian design.
It is a joy to hold and admire.GAB was founded in Stockholm in 1867 and the company had an important role on the Swedish art and crafts and industrial design scenes for more than a century. It was founded by Jakob Ängman,  who was a major reformer of  Swedish silver smithery and an accomplished craftsman. Angman was GAB's creative director until 1942 . At GAB, he developed a style that combined the characteristics of classicism with modern functionalism. He was succeeded by Sven Arne Gillgren.
