Toni (Anton) von Stadler, Austrian, 1850-1917.
Rural Landscape with Rainbow
Signed, inscribed, and dated 'T Stadler. / M 1906'  in the lower right.
A stunning painting depicting a landscape in a storm by Toni (Anton) von Stadler, painted in 1906.
This is one of those paintings that becomes unforgettable the minute you see it. A glorious, cloudy sky fills three quarters of the painting, while accents of light fall like gold on the grasses and shrubs in the foreground. On the left hand side, a rainbow emerges in that fleeting moment when the sun breaks through the storm.
In a substantial 19th century gilt frame.
