American Burled Walnut Table, Nineteenth Century, Herther Brothers.
American Burled Walnut Table, Nineteenth Century, Herther Brothers.
A small burled walnut table with two drop leaves and a single pull drawer. The table is raised on turned legs with an H form stretcher. This piece has bookmarked venneer and a gorgeous patina. The lines are simple but the craftsmanship is exquisite, and the piece has a good weight. Leaves fold down with ease, making it very versatile as a sofa table, end table or console table. We believe this table might have been made by the Herther Brothers, and American company that created furniture and interiors for many prominent clients of the gilded age, including J. Pierpont Morgan and William Henry Vanderbilt. Examples of Herther Brother furniture are features in many prominent collections throughout the United States.
